Numerous Cleaning Supplies Recalled Due to Failure to Meet Child Resistant Packaging Requirements, Child Injury Reported
During the current pandemic, soaps, disinfectants, and other cleaning supplies are in high demand and have flown off the shelves. Because of the lack of availability, many people have begun making their own soaps and cleaning products at home. Alarmingly, the Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced that numerous cleaning supply products used to make soap have been recalled due to failure to meet child-resistant packaging requirements.
On March 18, 2020, both Boyer Corporation, Inc. and Belle Chemical issued recalls for numerous cleaning products due to their failure to comply with the Poison Prevention Packaging Act because the packaging for their products was not child resistant. In fact, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has received reports of at least one child sustaining chemical burns to their mouth after gaining access to one of Boyer Corporation’s products.
These recalls cover hundreds of thousands of units that were sold at online locations such as Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, Bonanza, Jet, and Etsy. The specific products subject to the recalls are:
